Job: Tax Accountant

Work with marketing, billing and customer service group to ensure customers are taxed correctly for transaction taxes. Perform set up of customers’ for taxability in SAP. Stay abreast of tax rate and law changes by reviewing tax research engines daily. Maintain tax exemptions and export documentation. File monthly state sales and use tax, gross receipts, value-added and amended returns, including reconciling tax accrual accounts monthly and analyzing ending inventory balances. Prepare wires and check requests for payment of taxes and coding to correct general ledger accounts. Review use tax accruals for accuracy and prepare reversals and corrections as needed. Research sales and use tax issues and complete projects as needed. Maintain an awareness of all indirect tax matters that relate to the refineries, pipeline and terminal business. Maintain complete, organized documentation for all tax files and projects.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related degree required. CPA or CMI candidate preferred. A minimum of 3-5 years sales/use tax or other tax preparation experience required; knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office Applications a plus; proficiency in analyzing and reconciling accounts and preparing journal entries; ability to research current tax literature relating to sales/use tax laws; ability to work with customers, marketers, outside taxing authorities.
