POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary individual who provides chronic hemodialysis treatments to the patients under the direct supervision of the Charge Nurse. Under the ESRD state licensing requirements at TAC 117.43(D) (9), a facility trained non licensed dialysis technician can administer medications (heparin, lidocaine, normal saline, and oxygen) by delegation of the Medical Director. Such administration by dialysis technicians shall be in compliance with Chapter157 of the Texas Occupations Code concerning the delegation of medical acts by a licensed physician in the State of Texas.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
A high school graduate or completion of the G.E.D. is required. Certification by a recognized certification agency and or organization is recommended after completion of required time in the dialysis area. Successful completion of a three month probation period. Experience in the theory and application of hemodialysis principles in the clinical setting is required.
