Closing Date: 11/05/2009 Salary: $10.55 - $14.31 / Hourly Date Posted: 10/22/2009 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Office of Downtown Operations Job Summary Under general supervision, is responsible for work involving enforcement of parking regulations in designated areas. Operates a bicycle or three- wheel motorcycle on downtown streets. May be required to worked on Saturdays. Exercises no supervision. Essential Job Functions * Enforces the various City ordinances and laws pertaining to parking and issues citations to vehicles in violation; * Immobilizes vehicles that have outstanding parking tickets; * Impounds vehicles parked illegally and/or creating a traffic hazard; * Prepares seizure notices that accompany the booting of vehicles; * Restricts parking in metered and signed areas as required by Police Department Traffic Division; * Prepares reports regarding boots, tows, and citations issued; * Communicates information to the public, both private and professional citizens, concerning the legal parking of vehicles; * Communicates with the supervisor, parking dispatcher, and Municipal Courts, using a two-way radio system; * Clears vehicles in traffic lanes that congest or slow the flow of traffic; * Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. Skills / Requirements
Job/Driving Requirements * Graduation from high school or a General Education Development (GED) Certificate; * Six (6) months of experience in a position requiring public contact; * Must successfully complete a Parking Enforcement training program conducted by the department; * This position requires a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License or obtain a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License within thirty (30) days after becoming a resident of the State of Texas; * Use of your own personal vehicle may at times be required and proof of liability insurance will be required; * Substitution Ratio: Two years of related experience may be substituted for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience; * ANY APPLICANT SELECTED FOR EMPLOYMENT WITH THE CITY OF SAN ANTONIO MUST RECEIVE SATISFACTORY RESULTS FROM PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TESTING, REFERENCES, BACKGROUND CHECKS AND CREDENTIAL VERIFICATION. ADDITIONALLY, EMPLOYEES IN SENSITIVE OR HIGH RISK POSITIONS ARE SUBJECT TO INTERVAL CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH TITLE 49 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS, EMPLOYEES IN CDL POSITIONS ARE SUBJECT TO RANDOM DRUG TESTING.
