Under the direction of the General Manager, the Director of Human Resources leads the activities of Human Resources and Safety. The Director provides strategic vision that integrates these activities into the organization to sustain efficient and effective operations while enabling the organization to achieve its objectives. The Director facilitates the departments’ strategic planning and budgetary responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Skills / Requirements
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree related to Human Resources Management, Public Administration, or Business Administration. A Master’s Degree preferred. Ten years of progressive Human Resources management experience, including five years supervisor experience. Public sector experience preferred. Demonstrated experience in the preparation, oversight, analysis of operational and capital budgets and financial support for multiple departments. Working knowledge of computer, information management and communications systems. Ability to facilitate an effective strategic planning process Proficient working knowledge of PC’s and word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations. Proficient knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint is desirable. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Exhibit professional and personal integrity and character Exercise good judgment Communicate effectively orally in the English language Produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar. Work cooperatively with others Apply critical thinking using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, and approaches to problems. Active listening-giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate Conduct complex analysis and interpretation of analyze documents. Respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to the Board and others. WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to function in a principle based organization that has an established culture that is built on character and encourages all employees to develop good character and make decisions based on good character.
