POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Accurately processes and prepares tissue specimens for microscopic examination to aid physicians in determining, confirming or prescribing treatment for patients. Demonstrates proficiency and understanding of fixation tissue orientation cutting, mounting of slides and staining of tissues. Maintains records and specimen storage. Prepares tissues for frozen sections as needed. May oversee technical performance of other laboratory personnel at the direction of the supervisor.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent experience and successful completion of an approved structured histology program and certification in histology by a recognized agency. Two years histopathology recommended.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Certification in histology by a recognized agency is required.
