POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Interviews patients to determine their ability to pay for hospital and clinic service using knowledge of insurance verification, pre-certification and/or financial counseling. Secures and obtains accurate and complete demographic and financial patient data. Maintains strict confidentiality on the patients record.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school graduation or equivalent is required. Post high school coursework is preferred. Six (6) months of financial counseling related experience in a hospital/physician office setting preferred. Must provide insurance knowledge in obtaining benefits, pre-certification and collection of monies due. Prefer individual with knowledge in hospital contracts, regarding in-network vs. out-of-network benefits and negotiations. Prefer basic medical terminology and ICD 9 coding experience. Designated cash handlers must successfully complete the Patient Services Cashier course and be designated as a Patient Services Cashier during the initial probationary period.
