Closing Date: 11/13/2009 Salary: $28,922.40 - $43,383.60 / Annually Date Posted: 10/30/2009 FLSA Status: Exempt Department: SA Metro Health Dist Job Summary Under general direction, is responsible for Project WORTH health education and community outreach. The worked involved is generally educational, and consultative in nature. Exercises no supervision. Essential Job Functions * Delivers group presentations on teen pregnancy prevention, adolescent health, and related topics for the Project WORTH program; * Participates in the planning, production, implementation, and evaluation of Project WORTH events and activities; * Conducts outreach activities to reach high-risk populations; * Collaborates with Metro Health personnel, other City departments, and community agencies; * Attends Teen Pregnancy Prevention Taskforce meetings; * Remains current on topics related to abstinence, family planning, STD's, reproductive health, and adolescent health; * Assists in the development and produces educational and promotional materials; * Maintains a database of activities and submits monthly and year-end reports; * Assists in the preparation of grant application and reports; * Performs Metro Health duties and fulfill responsibilities as required. Skills / Requirements
Job/Driving Requirements * Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with preferable coursework in Counseling, Health Education, Education, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or a related field; * One year of experience in Counseling, Health Education, or a related field; * This position requires a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License or obtain a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License within thirty (30) days after becoming a resident of the State of Texas; * Use of your own personal vehicle may at times be required and proof of liability insurance will be required; * Substitution Ratio: Two years of related experience may be substituted for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience; * ANY APPLICANT SELECTED FOR EMPLOYMENT WITH THE CITY OF SAN ANTONIO MUST RECEIVE SATISFACTORY RESULTS FROM PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TESTING, REFERENCES, BACKGROUND CHECKS AND CREDENTIAL VERIFICATION. ADDITIONALLY, EMPLOYEES IN SENSITIVE OR HIGH RISK POSITIONS ARE SUBJECT TO INTERVAL CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH TITLE 49 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS, EMPLOYEES IN CDL POSITIONS ARE SUBJECT TO RANDOM DRUG TESTING. Preferred Qualifications * Working experience with teens and parents in community education; * Bilingual (English/Spanish); * Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook); * Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Physical Requirements * Light Work Location * 210 N. Rio Grande Work Hours * 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday, some evenings adnd weekend hours; * At the Dept.'s Discretion, the Work Location and Work Days/Hours May Be Subject to Change; * This position can be closed at any time.
