Job Summary
Under immediate supervision, is responsible for providing support to an assigned department, division or section. Performs various higher-level clerical, reporting, and record-keeping functions to the Immunization Outreach and Education Program and other sections within the Immunization Division. Exercises no supervision.
Essential Job Functions
* Serves as a representative of the Immunization Outreach and Education and Program (IOEP) working with Metro Health's Immunization Division, other divisions, and outside entities;
* Schedules and assists the IOEP supervisor with immunization education sessions for area birthing hospitals participating in the promotion of the TDaP vaccine for the family members of newborn infants;
* Supports the education and outreach components by ordering, maintaining and distributing an inventory of immunization educational materials to hospitals and healthcare organizations that serve children and adults at risk for under-immunization;
* Supports the Prenatal Hepatitis B Prevention Program supervisor by assisting with the data entry of vaccines given to infants and their families, including the TDaP vaccine;
* Creates and maintains a database of programmatic reportable information which complies with CDC's reporting requirements;
* Responsible for tracking the vaccine vouchers distributed to participating hospitals and clinics and entering this information in the reporting database;
* Enters, maintains, and updates data on the San Antonio Immunization Registry System (SAIRS) to include vaccinations administered through the promotion of TDaP;
* Maintains, develops and updates other immunization program databases and materials utilizing Access, Excel, and Power Point as necessary to support the Immunization Division;
* Submits monthly reports to reflect grant activities as required by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act;
* Develops and maintains a working knowledge of immunization principles and vaccines routinely recommended in order to support Metro Health Immunization Division outreach activities, special projects, and both seasonal influenza and back to school immunization drives.
* Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

Skills / Requirements

Job/Driving Requirements
* Graduation from high school or a General Education Development (GED) Certificate;
* One (1) year experience in general clerical work;
* This position requires a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License or obtain a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License within thirty (30) days after becoming a resident of the State of Texas;
* Use of your own personal vehicle may at times be required and proof of liability insurance will be required;
* Substitution Ratio: Two years of related experience may be substituted for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience;
* ANY APPLICANT SELECTED FOR EMPLOYMENT WITH THE CITY OF SAN ANTONIO MUST RECEIVE SATISFACTORY RESULTS FROM PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TESTING, REFERENCES, BACKGROUND CHECKS AND CREDENTIAL VERIFICATION. ADDITIONALLY, EMPLOYEES IN SENSITIVE OR HIGH RISK POSITIONS ARE SUBJECT TO INTERVAL CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKS AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH TITLE 49 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS, EMPLOYEES IN CDL POSITIONS ARE SUBJECT TO RANDOM DRUG TESTING.

Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge of general office procedures and methods;
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook);
* Ability to operate a computer and calculator;
* Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public and City staff.

Work Hours
* 7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday;
* This position is a "grant funded" position and has no disciplinary appeal rights to the Municipal Civil Service Commission. This position is likewise subject to at-will employment status, and can be terminated at any time for any reason;
* At the Dept.'s Discretion, the Work Location and Work Days/Hours May Be Subject to Change;
* This position can be closed at any time.
